Vacation Rental Co is a leading vacation rental management company in Steamboat Springs offering both short term vacation rental bookings for tourists and comprehensive in-house property management for vacation home owners.

With a goal to “take their website to the next level”, our Hospitality Tourism Marketing team consulted and guided them through the website design process while also helping them to re-think their business model.

The result was a transformational shift towards using the website to primarily acquire new property owners in need of property management services. The short-term booking engine is still functional (and improved) but less prominent. This focuses the website’s efforts on their most profitable services and the most lucrative path to further business development and

Project Requirements

Vacation Rental Co contacted 1st on the List’s Tourism Marketing services after seeing our work with Lifty Life. They needed a new website connected to Hostaway, a leading vacation rental management software system. Their team was highly motivated to take their website to the next level. Their existing website was very basic, a little outdate and most critical, missing out on speaking to homeowners in need of a reputable and trusted property management company to run their rental business. Up until working with us, their website was used to get guests to book on their website (a one time purchase) and not attract homeowners to use their management services (an ongoing, steady stream of income).

Approach Taken

Rethinking the Business Model

Tasked with taking the website to the next level, our Tourism Marketing team sat down with Vacation Rental Co to rethink the purpose of their website and business model. The end result was moving from trying to attract guests wanting to book a stay at their properties to attracting homeowners needing to hire a full service property management company. This shift from a one-time to ongoing revenue model was critical to take the business to the next level, and also fuels the messaging and purpose of the website.

Website Copy

We worked with the team at Vacation Rental Co to craft website copy that is catered to property owners. The purpose of content was to build trust in Vacation Rental Co’s in-house and local team and their ability to manage all of the day-to-day responsibilities of renting a property. The content is engaging, interactive and motivating and offers a fun, local spin to show that they are really involved in their community.

Prototypes and Design

Within a few days our Design team was able to create several figma templates and outline the entire website for Vacation Rental Co to review and interact with. They were thrilled with this exceptional turnaround time. The design is cohesive and easy to navigate. Best of all it incorporates all the necessary SEO best practices in terms of site structure, layout, and internal linking in order to establish rankings and search visibility once launched.

Hostaway Booking Configuration

Our Developers integrated and connected their direct booking site so the website could still capture guest bookings. Not only did they integrate it but they also made adjustments to improve how the booking site worked and made it more user friendly. Hostaway, the vacation rental software system used to power their company, was also integrated into the website.
